Activating the lost arts of mythic pageantry, The Cortège is a participatory theater experience singing to a part of ourselves both ancient & eternal.

Amid a rapidly expiring culture and scarcity of shared meaning, The Cortège serves as a container for collective and individual grief. Via ceremonious procession, The Cortège mourns the fate of the modern era, invites a reckoning with the New Gods of Perplexity, and shepherds souls toward what lies beyond the veil.

Occurring outdoors at dusk, The Cortège is a theatrical procession that mourns the fate of the modern era through movement, sound, costume, and spectacle.

The evening begins with an open-air food market and a live musical prelude. As twilight descends, passengers embark on a wordless journey through sound, movement, costume, and spectacle. At night’s end, all are invited to join the procession—toward safe passage and a gathering beyond the veil.

SPECTACLE

The Cortège transmutes circuitry into ceremony through robotic performance, drone apparitions designed by Studio Hock and flown on Nova Sky Stories, integrated automation, and a simulcast score.

COSTUME

Inspired by medieval pageantry and seasonal rites of passage, The Cortège unfolds through archetypal costuming, large-scale puppetry, and custom set-pieces crafted in collaboration with artists including Damselfrau, Jonny Cota, Spencer Hansen, and others.

Movement

Led by decorated Japanese battle dancer and choreographer, MiYU (@miyu23_official), and featuring powerhouse street-style dancer Capjay (@capjjay) in the lead role, The Cortège embodies storytelling through physical expression and movement.

Sound

A curated cinematic score is transmitted through wireless headsets, featuring tracks from Boreta, El Búho, TOKiMONSTA, Air, Kiasmos, Rival Consoles, Andrew Bird, Slow Meadow, and others, mixed by interactive media studio [namethemachine]

The Cortège draws on the lost art of mythic pageantry to create what is largely absent in Western culture today: a shared container for collective grief.
